Dear Parents,

October is National Fire Safety Month.  Each student received  a Fire Fighter's Safety Guide (FFSG)so you can review the fire safety concepts with them. Students who return the signed pledge sheets (on the last page of the FFSG ) by October 25th will be awarded with a coupon sheet good for a complimentary McDonald's Happy Meal, Slurpee, Pizza Hut breadsticks, and much more.

A collection of free writes written and illustrated by your little authors has been sent home. This type of writing helps them to explore their thoughts and share ideas with others.  It also encourages them to learn, think, share an opinion, dream, and connect their knowledge with new information.  Students progress from journal writing as they get over their fear of writing and build more confidence, especially if they read often.  Have a dialogue about the writing pieces with your keiki as they trust you to read their thoughts.

Please remember:
  • Tuesday, October 8th - Scholastic Book Orders due
  • Wednesday, October 9th - Presentation of Learning RSVP due
  • Friday, October 11th - Presentation of Learning - 'Apples, Apples', 8:30-9:30 in K-1 classroom.  Please bring a small knife (not plastic) strong enough to cut an apple.
